We are excited to offer dying services. We use Jacquard Acid Dyes. We can dye either the finished product (yarn or fiber) or dye before we process your fiber.
Dying is $13 per pound. The charge is based on the weight of your fiber after washing. There is a 2 pound minimum after washing.
You have complete control of the dying process. You choose the color and when in the process you want the fibers to be dyed.
We can do a kettle dye of finished yarns that create an uneven, but beautiful color saturation. Very similar to independent dyers, each skein will be slightly different.
Dying the fibers before they are processed creates a solid colored yarn. There is also the option of dying half the fleece, then blending during processing. This will create a softly heathered yarn (or roving, or batt).
From their website:
"Acid dyes are used to color silk, wool, feathers, other protein fibers and nylons, and nothing does it better! Extremely brilliant and colorfast, Jacquard Acid Dyes are highly concentrated, powdered hot water dyes that produce level, uniform color during immersion dyeing. They exhaust well and won’t bleed or fade with washing. Of all the colorants in the world, acid dyes are known to produce the most luscious colors of all, and Jacquard’s palette is unsurpassed for quality, intensity and consistency. Don’t be alarmed by the name—the only acid involved is the white vinegar or citric acid that you add to the dye bath."
